Urgent Care Visits

An acute illness is any short-term medical condition that occurs suddenly and requires urgent or immediate medical attention to treat intense symptoms. While acute illnesses are generally not life-threatening, prompt medical care may be necessary to prevent the condition from worsening. Our medical centre offers non-emergency acute illness care for common medical conditions such as strep throat, flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, skin infections, urinary tract infections, and more.

Minor injuries may not be a life threatening medical emergency, but their symptoms can be painful and may stop you from engaging in daily life. Common minor injuries include muscle sprains and strains, shallow cuts that may require stitching, bruises, and more. Our medical facility offers the immediate treatment you need to: prevent your injury from worsening, start the process of proper healing, and get prompt relief from your severe pain symptoms.

COVID-19 Care

Prevention, Acute Illness, and Long Haul Covid

Getting proper treatment for your COVID infection is crucial for making a complete recovery, especially during this current pandemic. To help you achieve the full restoration of your health, we provide comprehensive COVID care for every stage of the disease cycle, from the initial exposure and infection phase to the post-COVID recovery phase. Enacting effective prevention measures and seeking prompt medical attention when you experience symptoms can make the difference between shortening or prolonging your illness, and even life and death in more serious cases. The good news is that COVID is a very treatable acute condition. Even if your infection is mild, medical observation is still essential to ensure that your recovery is complete and that you are no longer infectious. You should seek emergency medical attention right away if you experience ANY of the following symptoms: chronic pain or pressure in your chest, difficulty in breathing, difficulty in waking up or staying awake, feelings of confusion or “brain fog”, and pale or discolored skin/lips/nails.

Recovering from a serious COVID infection can be a stressful and traumatic process for many patients. Many patients experience ongoing symptoms of varying severity after recovering from COVID, which may last some weeks or months after the initial infection. The most common lingering effects of post-COVID infection include the following: persistent fatigue and exhaustion, shortness of breath or continued difficulties in breathing, chest and/or stomach pain, change or loss of smell and taste, dysfunctional sleep cycle, joint and/or muscle pain, brain fog (difficulty in thinking or inability to focus), fever, diarrhea, altered mood cycles, cough, dizziness or lightheadedness, and altered menstrual cycle (for women). The most severe (and rare) post-COVID condition involves persistent and painful inflammation of different organs in the body, which can affect the lungs, heart, skin, kidneys, and brain. We strongly encourage every patient to continue their COVID care treatment until all their symptoms are fully resolved.

Opioid Use Disorder Treatment

Opioid addiction is a difficult but treatable chronic condition that requires patience, persistence, understanding, and compassion. Instead of the traditional abstinence approach in the treatment of opioid use disorder, we utilize medication assisted therapy (MAT) to remedy the biochemical aspects of addiction and its corresponding effects on the patient’s brain and behavior. Medications that can be used to effectively treat opioid abuse and its symptoms include methadone, buprenorphine, Suboxone, and naltrexone. Medication assisted therapy can also be combined with other forms of treatment (individual counseling, support groups, etc) to help the patient successfully overcome their addiction.

Mask Exemptions

Wearing a mask is an essential and often mandatory preventive measure to protect ourselves and each other from COVID infection. However, there are some medical conditions that can make it difficult for you to wear a mask without seriously harming your health. If you are suffering from breathing difficulties and other ill effects from routine mask-wearing, you may be eligible for a mask exemption. To know if you qualify for a mask exemption, you can schedule an appointment with our physician though our online contact form
